ASPIDISTRAFLY
After the release of “The Ghost of Things” EP, ASPIDISTRAFLY released their first full-length album “i hold a wish for you” (Kitchen. Label) in 2008. The album was launched and supported by Apple Inc, Club 21 and Asylum in Singapore. Outside of Singapore, the album has gained international attention and was listed on Textura’s top 20 albums of 2009. The duo was then invited to go on a 7-city Asian tour around Tokyo, Kyoto, Bangkok, Macau, Hongkong and Kuala Lumpur, which culminated at a headline show at renowned venue for advanced music, Superdeluxe in Tokyo.
ASPIDISTRAFLY has also contributed materials for media art performances, most notably in “Drift Net” (2007) curated by international theatre company TheatreWorks,
Up to this time, aspidistrafly remains active in Japan. April has provided vocals for and collaborated with artists such as haruka nakamura, Akira Kosemura and kadan. An accomplished artist, April oversees all artwork and films for ASPIDISTRAFLY and is Art Director for Kitchen. Label. As the producer of Kitchen. Label, Ricks is involved in the production of all its releases and has worked on releases by haruka nakamura, ironomi, FJORDNE, Flica, Evade and Rist among others.
ASPIDISTRAFLY released their second full-length album “A LITTLE FABLE” on 15th December 2011. The album is licensed for distribution in Japan under Inpartmaint Inc / p*dis. ASPIDISTRAFLY will be launching the album in Tokyo with a live showcase at Waseda Scott Hall on Christmas Day 2011. Further international dates for 2012 are to be announced.
