Meitei announces Sen’nyū Listening Event at Sibasi, Kyoto

To celebrate the release of Meitei’s new work Sen’nyū on Friday, August 8, Sibasi will be hosting a special listening event with Meitei on Thursday, August 14.

With a new theme, The Lost Hundred Views of Japan, and created during his residency in Beppu’s historic hot spring town, this work marks a bold leap from his previous trilogy and opens an entirely new chapter. Together, we will explore how this new sonic world came into being, listening to the record and hearing directly from Meitei about its creation.

The event will be held in two sessions — “Light” and “Dark” — with the following program:

Full album playback on a vacuum tube audio system
Commentary from Meitei on the album and each track
Playback of environmental sounds recorded in Beppu, and discussion of the creative process
Viewing of photographs from the photo book, with stories behind the music’s inspiration
Autograph session
LP, CD, and photo book sales
