For the past two decades, Darren has sound designed and composed music for over 250 arts productions, and has received multiple Straits Times Life! Theatre Awards for Best Sound. Being the Associate Sound Artist and Music Composer for The Finger Players since 2004, Darren is also one of the co-founders of design collective – INDEX. He was conferred the Singapore National Arts Council’s Young Artist Award (music; multi-disciplinary practice) in 2012.

In 2008, he was selected to attend the Red Bull Music Academy held in Barcelona. Since then, he has been invited to perform solo or show case his sound installations in numerous prestigious international music and arts festival such as SONAR (Barcelona, Spain), Zomerparkfeest (Venlo, Netherlands) and Wiener Festwochen (Vienna, Austria), to name a few.

A multi-instrumentalist trained in classical piano, he has been exploring re-interpretive playing and improvisations on various music instruments. An avid believer in subtractive methods and minimalism, he continues to find balance and co-relations between music and sound, blending acoustic instrumentation with the environment, found sounds, field recordings and acousmatics.
